Update for patients – 23 August 2021

The coronavirus vaccination program continues to evolve as supplies of Pfizer vaccines increase.

From 30th August 2021, all people from 16-59 are welcome to book for a Pfizer vaccination with a small number of children 12-15 and an even smaller number of adults 60 and over eligible as well. We continue to offer Astra Zeneca to all patients 18 and over and it continues to be the only choice for the vast majority of those over 60. Please see our home page for further information.

Please remember that your second dose is vital for best protection, and this must be with the same brand as your first dose.

We are currently booking Pfizer vaccinations into October but will continue to monitor our stock levels and as they increase, we will open up more appointments on our website.

As recent outbreaks have shown, our community’s safety is vulnerable. It is really important for all of us to be vigilant for symptoms and to be tested straight away. We continue to offer telehealth consultations for those with symptoms and can physically examine patients in our protected car park clinic. Please do not attend the clinic if you are unwell. It is vitally important that we keep other patients and our staff safe and ensure that Blackburn Clinic can remain open to serve you and others with all of your health needs.

As an essential business we remain open and able to provide all of our regular services. It is paramount that your regular checks and investigations continue.

On another note, we are pleased to announce that Blackburn Clinic has taken on the lease of the old pharmacy site. We plan to fit out these rooms over summer to allow for a further expansion of our capacity to serve our community.

Finally, a big thank you for all of your wonderful feedback and praise of our staff, our vaccine clinics and our service overall. We are greatly encouraged by your support, as we strive for our mission of delivering excellent healthcare.

Update for patients – 15 October 2020

It’s been really nice to see many of you again as we increase our face to face consulting when it is safe and suitable to do so.

We continue to practice in accordance with our Covid safe plan and continue to focus on screening questions, mask wearing, hand sanitising and social distancing. Thank you for continuing to answer the many questions from reception staff that ensure we screen each patient for symptoms with such good grace. Your cooperation has helped us keep our doors open. With persistent but low numbers of new cases, we simply have to push on with undertaking appropriate health checks in person whilst minimising risks of Covid. There still have not been any Covid positive patients inside our Practice.

Telehealth continues to be offered up until the end of March 2021. For patients without respiratory symptoms it is essentially your choice as to whether you have a phone consult or a face to face one. This will be determined by the nature of your concern. If the consultation can be performed over the phone, this is still the safest option. Your doctor will inform you if a face to face follow up consult is required.

From Monday 2nd November, the fees for Telehealth consults will change. After the Medicare rebate, the out of pocket cost will be $30, with concession patients being $15 out of pocket. Normal fees apply for face to face appointments.

Please ensure that your health concerns are being addressed. We are concerned about symptoms being ignored and preventative health activities (like skin cancer checks) being delayed. It is really important that we continue to provide you with the highest quality of health care whilst maintaining respect for the safety measures that are necessary due to Covid 19.

With best wishes,
